Disco lovers, LGBTQIA+ members and allies alike, ASSEMBLE! It’s time to queen out at Homespace!

A unique collaboration between singer Mickey Callisto and the iconic Independent club on Holmeside, the event aims to celebrate the queer community and create a safe space where everyone can enjoy some bangers. Here’s what’s going on…

Sunderland born and bred Mickey Callisto has had a meteoric rise so far: from singing opera in school to performing on Britain’s Got Talent and supporting CMAT on tour. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Freddie Mercury and Pink Floyd, Castillo uses his talent to create the ultimate listening experience.

The Homospace event pays homage to Callisto’s hometown, Sunderland, now an International Music City, and embraces those from all walks of life and musical tastes.

The new hottest night out is named after one of Mickey’s singles, which is a tale of a brilliant nightclub located on the moon. Whilst ‘Inde P’ isn’t exactly a cosmic body, it’s totally out of this world! Known in the Parliament as an iconic, grassroot venue (cheers, Mr Atkinson), Independent will host Homospace on the last Friday of every month, so pop down and get your groove on.

Choosing Homospace means finding inspiration in stylish outfits, feeling free in the ultra-inclusive crowd, and having an all-night safe room available.

Homospace get ready with me itinerary:

  • Get out the glitter
  • Get the heels on
  • Tease that bald spot
  • Take a million selfies

Having the opportunity to express yourself as part of the LGBTQIA+ community in our city is invigorating and exciting. We are an International Music City, after all. From groovy disco to diva pop and swoony rock ballads, the DJs at Homospace are working overtime to bring you the hottest tunes.

We approve of this totally buzzing club night and can’t wait to see what you think.
