Marketplace live at Independent
By Jenny Dean
Hartlepool band Marketplace is making the trip to Sunderland as part of their ‘Mean Business’ tour. Having hit cities including Manchester, London, and Glasgow, this will be the final stop from the self described ‘rock n roll business associates’.
The 5-piece have been making waves this year, having played at countrywide festivals such as Stockton Calling and The Great Escape, as well as being on the first wave line-up for Last Train Home festival in Darlington this September.
Having recently released their latest EP ‘Marketplace Mean Business’ on June 6th, the band evokes a feeling of nostalgia, with sounds reminiscent of artists like The Japanese House, and The 1975 with their dreamy sound, catchy riffs, and soft yet powerful vocals.
Marketplace are successfully carving out a particular niche for themselves in the North-East scene, and don’t show any signs of slowing down.
Catch them live at Independent Sunderland on Friday 4th July, with support from Newcastle band Club Paradise and local artist Lottie Willis.
