Tin Ribs – Disaster Capitalism

Previews

Review by Peter Doherty

Newcastle based four-piece Tin Ribs return with their signature, sardonic sonics. “Disaster Capitalism”(“Dis Cap”) sees a band that we haven’t heard from in roughly four months align like they never left – they’ve been busy gigging and spreading their Tin Ribs Aerobics antics around the North East in the meantime, of course. “Dis Cap” opens with rugged drums not too far from a drum-kit taking a tumble down a well-proportioned flight of stairs – think The Damned’s “New Rose” for a point of reference. The track also features fellow North East rapper Ne-O who compliments and echoes sentiments laid down by Jason Jones.

You can always rely on frontman Jason Jones to lace in a few quotables on a Tin Ribs track – he’s got a way with words which lends itself to witty songwriting so well. Dennis Rodman got the nod on Tin Ribs’ 2023 Council Pop EP. This time, it’s former England and Southampton footballer Matt Le Tissier…. and his CBD.

Tin Ribs have upped the production values with “Dis Cap”. If it happens to be a part of a bigger bunch of new Tin Ribs tracks, then we’re in for an absolute treat.

Minimum wage; maximum rage, “Disaster Capitalism” releases July 4th via Serial Bowl Records. Get it down you keyboard warrior!
