Tight Collar – White Noise

Reviews

Single review by Peter Doherty

Tight Collar’s debut single “White Noise” brings to life the quirky antics that the band have made a name for themselves with through their high-octane live show. The jagged edge that Tight Collar brandish finds itself sonically sharpened through the frantic performance and lyrics of frontman, Rob Maughan.

“I don’t know what I have left. I’m losing all of my breath. White noise suffocates strangling my neck.”

The track is nicely halved by a quick breather, right before the band dive back into the mania.

Speaking on the track, Tight Collar had this to say: “This was one of the first songs we wrote together as a band, so it felt right to have it as our debut release. We wanted it to capture the raw energy that comes from the sheer anxiety of living in today’s political climate. Alex at Polestar Studios helped us pull that energy together, giving the track its raw edge and setting us up to record it live. ‘White Noise’ is an honest portrayal of the inability to think rationally when overwhelmed by a swirling ocean of stress and anxiety. The live performance aims to capture the chaos within the protagonist’s mind”.

You’ve definitely been overwhelmed by the said swirling ocean of stress and anxiety if you’ve been in attendance of a Tight Collar gig. Speaking of Tight Collar gigs, the Tight Collar crew have a debut single release party that is set to take place at Little Buildings on July 18th. Support is courtesy of HMRC and ottercop.
