SINGLE REVIEW: Scarlett Esme – Backseat Romance

Reviews

By Jenny Dean

Take a catchy RnB style beat, and the voice of a pop princess, mix them together and you’ve got Scarlett Esme’s debut single Backseat Romance.

The front woman of The Last Time has taken the leap to launch her solo career with a song that would not be out of place in a Dua Lipa x Chappell Roan collaboration. From the outset, you can tell that Scarlett is an artist who cares deeply about her lyricism, and endeavours to make each line stand out.

Hopefully we’ll be hearing more from Scarlett as a solo artist soon, if she can find the time in between her busy schedule gigging with The Last Time, who seem to be gaining quite a bit of traction in the local scene. But don’t be fooled, her solo work is a departure from the vibes of the band, and she is trying out something different with her own sound, which I’m certain will keep impressing us with each release.
