Houghton-based musician Georgia Ruyi has come onto the scene with a release that tells us who she is and what she’s all about. Her debut single Held by Strings, released on Feb 12 has already received support from both BBC Introducing and Radio 6 music in only days of its release, an impressive feat for the 16 year old Young Musicians Project member.

Inspired by artists such as Mei Semones and Adrianne Lenker, Georgia takes the listener on a four-minute long journey of introspection and deep thought; this is a track that demands to be listened to deeply, in a calm, quiet space, and taken in in all its glory.

The song builds on itself, with ebbs and flows within the melodies and instrumentation. Georgia states that the finger picking technique was used experimentally while crafting the song, which slowly grew into the multi-instrument track that stands today.

Despite having played music for almost her entire life, this is Georgia’s first official release, and having already gained the attention of BBC Radio, things are looking positive for this artists next steps in her career.

Georgia currently has no upcoming live gigs, but keep an eye on her social media to be the first to find out when she does.
