SINGLE REVIEW: Alex James – Figure It Out Now

North East England’s Alex James returns with Figure It Out Now, the second single from the upcoming EP The Outcast. Fronted by Alex James Kennedy—the world’s first rock frontman living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD)—the band continues to turn personal struggle into a triumphant, universal message.

While musically it is not groundbreaking or pushing new musical boundaries, it is an instantly accessible and nostalgic classic rock track. It leans into a nostalgic warmth that feels instantly familiar, making it incredibly easy to listen to for fans of melodic, guitar-driven anthems. The song is well structured, well played, and well recorded.

The lyrical content is poignant and meaningful as Alex channels his unique perspective into a defiant stance. Granted, it is all just a little too safe for my long-abused ears, but the fact that Alex is there on stage challenging the status quo, raising awareness, and demanding accessibility and representation has to be applauded.
