Ready To Ryde?

Previews

Sunderland rockers Ryder release a debut album packed with bangers ahead of a festive performance at Independant in the city later this year.

The neckties are tightened, the Rickenbackers are ticked-on and the jackets are well and truly leathered. While the core influences for the band’s sound are worn loud and clear on their stone-island sleeves, there are plenty of fresh ideas here to keep the palette whetted.

The passion for what they do shines through as anthem after anthem pours forth from this 10-track full release. Excellently produced, their mega-rock sound feels ready to fill stadiums, hitting the ground running with a touch of professionalism and class. It all feels very British, with echoes of Oasis, Kasabian and vicariously, The Beatles, and The Smiths.

There’s a touch of social commentary, and while I personally have had about all I can take of current affairs (everything is fucked, and no one is coming to help), we need artists to help us parse the state of the world and remind us that people have purpose. If you’re still living for a time when guitar music rocked the world and authentic humans made music with a purpose, this is a cut for your next rotation.

‘Only The Brave’ is out now on all streaming platforms, and you can catch the band live on December 21st at Independant. Tickets via https://www.insangel.co.uk/bands/ryder
