24 Hours In Paris Interview

Interviews

Lucy: 24 hours in Paris. Where did that come from?

[band]: It’s just the Eureka moment of finding a good band name. Because I’ve thought of millions of band names. They’ve all been rubbish, really. And then I made up that one, and I was like, got to do it. This is the one.

Lucy: If you had 24 hours in Paris, what would you do?

[band]: There’s a lot to do. Eat bread and go to Disneyland. Eat baguettes. Cheap wine. Cheap cigarettes. Cheese. Moulin Rouge.

Lucy:That’s a 1975 lyric.

[band]:  Cheap wine, cheap cigarettes, Moulin Rouge.

Lucy:  So, you’ve all kind of been in different projects here and there. I’ve seen your faces dotted about all over the place. And then, all of a sudden, you’ve come together so, how did this come to be?

Laurence: Me, Louis, Sam and Charlie went to school together, went to college together.

Sam: And I was like, I’m sitting on these four songs at the moment. They haven’t got any lyrics, but shall we just play them and see what happens? And that’s basically it.

Lucy: So, obviously, it is the first gig, the debut tomorrow. It’s intense, especially putting yourself out for a headliner. Was that always going to be like, we want to come on the scene with a bang?

Laurence: Oh, yeah. I wanted that the most. I went to Milly (Nic Promotions) and said, we’ve got these songs. Do you fancy putting us on? It’s a hell of an opportunity, you know what I mean?

Lucy: So, the set tomorrow night, is it going to be all originals? Is it going to be covers?

[band]: Half and half. Half and half, really, because we’ve got the EP. And then, we’ve got three covers to go alongside that.

Lucy: Three words to describe you.

[band]:Chill. Canny. Nice. That’s it.

Lucy: What is your dream local line-up for you to play?

[band]:  I’d like to support the Futureheads. Oh, yeah. I’d love that. Tom A. Smith as well. That would be quite cool. I’d like to play with Primavera’s. I think they’re class. I’d like to play with Critch and Red Remedy as well. I know we’re on with them tomorrow, but Camel Island. I’d like to play gigs with the bands that we’re playing with tomorrow as well. I am a fan of Claudia. Out of all the bands who I know, they are just the nicest people. Big shout-out to Claudia. They’re brilliant. Lovely people.
