Students from the Northern Academy of Music Education (NAME) are using their skills and passion to support the local community this winter by organizing Snowed in Sunlun and Snowed in Hartlepool, a pair of music gigs for local charities.
Last year’s inaugural “Snowed In” event successfully raised over £1000 for Love Amelia. This year, NAME students are relaunching the concept with fresh energy, a second venue in a different city, and different lineups.
Snowed in Sunlun will take place on 10th December at Pop Recs in Sunderland, raising crucial funds for the Sunderland Soup Kitchen. The lineup features a diverse line up from Yersin, Black Rain, spacecadetbloom, and Wool.
On the 13th December the focus shifts to the Vixen Bar for Snowed in Hartlepool, with all proceeds benefiting the Hartlepool Community Grocery. This gig will feature performances by Claudia, spacecadetbloom, Beatnik, and Primaveras, promising an exciting night of music in Hartlepool.
These student-led events are set to take over and transform the two venues into vibrant hubs of community spirit. The funds raised are critically needed to help provide hot meals for the homeless and essential support for low-income families in both cities throughout the difficult winter period.
“Our main goal is to bring people together through music,” says an organizing NAME student. “Christmas is a hard time for many, and Snowed In gives the community a chance to enjoy a night of music, discover new bands, and give back to those struggling with money or loneliness.”
Tickets are £10 and available now from https://www.fatsoma.com/p/snowed-in-sunlun.
