Sunderland’s finest post-punk outfit, HouseProud, have returned with their latest single – Again. Delivering a masterclass in tension. The track is a visceral, unrelenting assault on the senses that perfectly captures the band’s reputation for controlled pandemonium.
From the opening bars, the track hooks you with an addictive lead riff that loops through the brain like a fever dream, cutting through a sonic landscape built on a massive bass line that rattles the ribcage. Holding the chaos together are fierce drums that drive the momentum forward with unwavering, clinical precision. The guitars are wonderfully angular and aggressively sharp, slashing through the mix with a gritty, dissonant urgency that leaves no room for hesitation.
Rather than merely mimicking their influences, HouseProud have refined their heavy, abrasive live energy into something truly definitive here. This track marks the evolution of post punk sound created by the wire and gang of four. Taking the classic, minimalist 1970s structural blueprint and mutating it for the current generation. It is intense, brilliant, and arguably their best work yet.
