Roulette Fest Spin The Wheel Again

Previews

Due to its continued success throughout the year, the Roulette Fest team have decided to spin the wheel again, this time with a brand new gaggle of the North East’s first-rate musicians. After a collection of battling bands in pursuit of a coveted spot on the lineup, followed by a tantalising ‘777 showcase’ gig, it’s safe to say gig goers have been on the edge of their seats waiting for the new lineup and well … they’ve hit the jackpot.

Roulette was birthed by a group of students at NAME, and aims to champion local talent of all genres, utilising all areas of Independent to showcase the tremendous talent on display across 3 stages. The festival has ‘no links to gambling itself in any way’, however the genre bending lineup will have you taking chances on new artists, here’s all the info you should know before you place your bets…

The Green stage:

On the bottom floor of the newly renovated Independent, the Green Stage is providing the indie floor-fillers throughout the evening. Be prepared for jangly guitars, groovy basslines and singalong chorus’ as this stage is hosting all the North East’s favourite indie rockers such as: Camel Island, Swindled and Park View. With heavier riffage provided by Houseproud and Caudia, and of course headlined by the local music show award winning Patrick Gosling, the plethora of new talent and local music favourites on this stage provides an intimate atmosphere to lose yourself in songs that deserve to be played at the headline stage at Glastonbury.

The Red stage:

With only a quick trip upstairs, the vibe is completely shifted, you are now in a world of utterly unhinged, gritty rock. The Red Stage is bound to have you moshing, foot-stomping and screaming at the top of your lungs before the headline act has even began soundchecking. Heavily dominated by radgy punk rockers, exploring all corners of the alternative scene, no one is safe from the riotous riffs and infectiously feral energy exuded from all acts on this stage. From Sunderland punk pioneers Slalom D, to the melodic, shoegaze sounds of SpaceCadetBloom, eventually brought to a close by the insanity and immersion of a Dead Wet Things performance, this stage is set for a chaotic evening.

Acoustic stage:

Need a minute to catch your breath? The outdoor acoustic stage is the perfect way to connect with some amazing local singer/songwriters who are stripping back their songs for an open-air, up close and personal setting, perfect for a relaxing bev as the sun sets. In complete juxtaposition to the other stages, this environment provides unfiltered, stripped back sounds for all in search of an authentic, chilled vibe to mellow out your evening with.
